Different kinds of a cleft

An incomplete unilateral cleft of the lip (CL). This is called incomplete because the cleft does not extend to the nose. 

An unilateral cleft of the lip and maxilla.

An unilateral cleft of the lip, maxilla and palate (CLP).

A bilateral cleft; on the right side a cleft of the lip and maxilla and on the left side an incomplete cleft  of the lip. 

A bilateral cleft of the lip, maxilla and palate (CLP).

A cleft of the soft palate (CP).
A cleft can also appearance only in the hard palate or both in the hard and soft palate.
